What is hosting?
Hosting is the business of housing, serving, and maintaining files for your website so that your website is available on the internet. So basically hosting means renting disk space on a webserver with a fast internet connection.
There is a wide variety in providers and hosting products. In making your choice you should take into account the following:
- Disk space
You need sufficient diskspace for your website
- Bandwidth
The server must have fast connection to the internet
- Data traffic
Every time your site is requested, information is sent over the internet. Take care that the amount of data traffic offered is real. Many hosting providers have a 'fair share policy' hidden in small print. In a Bedouina hosting contract are no such hidden restrictions.
- Access to your website
You need to be able to modify your website. The most versatile way is access by FTP, but this also requires some basic computer knowledge. Many hosting providers, including Bedouina, also offer an easier way of access depending on your requirements and your website.
- Unwanted advertisements
Some hosting providers, mainly the very cheap or free ones, annoy your visitors with pop-ups, pop-unders, banners and advertisements. Bedouina of course doesn't.
- Support
Make sure the webserver is programmed to support all functionality in your website (server side scripting languages, own cgi-bin, databases etc)
- Helpdesk
You should choose a reliable hosting provider, so that you will rarely need a helpdesk. But if you do it is probably urgent, and you should have a solution to your problem fast.
Bedouina Hosting Pointbee (only in combination with a professional Pointbee website) and Bedouina Hosting Pro are probably more than sufficient for your purpose, but should you have other wishes we will make you a custom tailored offer for any additional service you want.
Go to Bedouina hosting specifications.
